Just look at these little guys- They are raccoon dogs, and honestly too darn cute. I want a few, apparently they aren’t a vicious bastion of evil (like say, Chihuahuas).
Admittedly I wasn’t sure what exactly a raccoon dog was in an incredibly depressing story I was reading.
So you know, if you don’t want to hear a rant- stop reading here. Below there is one huge soap-box moment. Long story short: I don’t like the fur trade, at all. I think fur (you know, when not on the animal it belongs to) is kinda tacky. I don’t want to think that a cute and fluffy animal died to make some overpriced and ridiculous jacket.
Which I’ll be more than happy to admit doesn’t apply to any actual utilitarian use, there are some climates that not using fur can be a death sentence. I just really think that the fur coats, and silly and rather vain uses of fur look like hell.
When I was younger, and oh god how I wish I was making this up, I was giving a lot of smaller purses due to my love of playing dress-up. There was one that I had thought looked odd. It had what I *thought* was faux fur on either face and black leather in the middle. It really didn’t look right. Upon opening it, I found out that it wasn’t faux, it was however baby snow leopard. Let me reiterate: BABY SNOW LEOPARD. To say I had a bad reaction upon finding that is a drastic understatement (and more than likely of my hatred of fur coats and fur crap today).
Yes, that little guy (well, okay not him but a cousin or something). Went into use for a hideous purse.
Okay, admittedly this a tangent. While I’m definitely not a militant vegetarian (that would require me to actually be a vegetarian*), I actually cannot stand PeTA, and well- many other things. This is (one of my) soapboxes.
I’ll go back into the corner now…
